The NASCAR Cup Series is in Bristol this week for the last race on the weekend at the short track. There should be close racing as the groove will likely change throughout the race and track position will be important throughout the race. One reminder for this race as this was the race last season that had the crazy tire wear that made the race extremely unpredictable so take that into account when making lineups. This could be a hard race to predict.
Potential Dominators
Kyle Larson
Denny Hamlin
Alex Bowman
Christopher Bell
Larson was one of the best cars in practice as he was at the top on lap averages in most categories. He is good at Bristol and starts at the front so he should be one of the top contenders this weekend. Hamlin is another favorite coming into the weekend and is on a hot streak winning the last 2 races this season. He won this race last season and starts 4th so he should have a chance to battle for laps led early and contend throughout the day. Bowman starts on pole for the race and had good speed in practice with top 5 lap averages. He should get the early laps led and hopefully holds on to lead enough and get dominator points to hit value with a top 10 finish or better. Bell is just a pick based on Bristol history and he never shows anything in practice. This will be an unpredictable week and I wouldn't be surprised to see him lead a bunch.
Place Differential Plays
Joey Logano
Ross Chastain
William Byron
Chris Buescher
Logano spun in qualifying and will start at the back for the race so he has a ton of place differential potential. He had solid speed in practice so he should be good enough to make his way through the field. Chastain is a little more of a worry as Trackhouse has struggled all weekend. He does start in the back in 35th so hopefully they can make things better in the race and he can end up a solid place differential option. Byron and Buescher are both good at Bristol and have a lot of place differential potential for the race.
Cheap Options
Noah Gragson
John Hunter Nemechek
Todd Gilliland
Cole Custer
Gragson starts way in the back in 31st but had really good speed in practice. I expect him to move forward and be a good place differential play for the race as he should move forward and have at least top 20 potential. Nemechek had speed in practice and was someone who ran well last season with the high tire wear finishing in 6th. He starts in 32nd so he should be a great place differential play this weekend. Gilliland and Custer are two others that start in the 30s so they have a lot of place differential potential. They have had good runs at Bristol in the past and could be good cheap options this week.
