The NASCAR Cup Series is back on the East coast this week as they head down to South Florida to race at Homestead. The 1.5 mile track has high tire wear so saving tires throughout a run is going to be very important this weekend. Since tires are so important this week we likely won't see many 2 tire stops like last week at Las Vegas, everyone is going to want 4 tires every stop this week. The different lines on the track and tire wear should produce some great racing as this is one of the best tracks on the circuit.
Potential Dominators
Kyle Larson
Ryan Blaney
Bubba Wallace
William Byron
We knew coming into this week that Kyle Larson was going to be a favorite as this is one of his best tracks and runs better than almost anyone each time they come here. He was fastest in practice on the long run and went out and qualified 14th. He get to the front early and be a top option this week for DFS and to win the race. Blaney was another one of the fastest cars on the long run in practice. He almost won this race last year and he should be up front contending for the win all race long again this week. He starts in 6th and should have a chance to lead early. Wallace was one of the best cars in the practice session and seems to run really well on 1.5 mile tracks. He qualified in 9th and will have upside to be a contender if they run as well in the race as he did in practice. He is especially a great value at his salary. Byron is the other driver starting in the top 10 that should have a chance to get out front and lead laps. All the Hendrick cars looked good on the long run and Byron has been one of the better drivers at Homestead in this car making him an option to be a dominator.
Place Differential Plays
Tyler Reddick
Brad Keselowski
Daniel Suarez
Ty Gibbs
Reddick has been one of the top options at Homestead in recent races and he won this race last season. He had top 5 speed in practice and he starts back in 20th giving him a good amount of place differential potential with upside to be a dominator. Keselowski and Suarez start way back in the 30s so they have a ton of place differential potential. Both seemed to be a lot better on the long run and should move forward once the race settles in and there are some long green flag runs. Both should have top 15 potential for the race if they don't run into any issues. Gibbs had really good long run speed in practice as it was highlighted on the broadcast and his falloff was a lot less than some others. This could be the week he gets back on track for the season and has a good run towards the front. Starting 13th likely keeps his ownership down as well.
Cheap Options
Justin Haley
Austin Dillon
Michael McDowell
Ricky Stenhouse
Haley was one of the fastest cheap drivers in practice and did not have a ton of falloff on his runs so he should be a good option this week. He starts 21st so he won't have a ton of place differential upside but he could have top 15 potential this weekend. Dillon starts back in 30th so he has a lot more place differential potential than Haley. He was alright in practice in the low 20s in lap averages. If they can get his car a little better he could end up being a great option this week. McDowell and Stenhouse were solid in practice but didn't show anything to stand out over others. They start 26th and 27th and have runs at Homestead in the top 20. If they can improve throughout the race they are both solid options for the race. There is not really many cheap options this week that stand out over the others, so there are a lot of drivers that I would consider usable options in all formats.
