NASCAR is in Watkins Glen this week and there are some Underdog Fantasy plays that I like for the Cup race today:
Michael McDowell is probably my favorite play today across all platforms. He has a great long run car and should easily get a top 10 if he doesn’t have any issues. I expect him to contend for the win today.
Daniel Suarez also had a good car in practice and starts in the top 10 as well. He should be able to stay up there and him just needing a top 12 is a solid value.
Ross Chastain did get the pole and had speed in practice, but this is a race that a lot of things can change with strategy and there are a lot of fast cars in the field. I think he will get shuffled back at some point and may have trouble getting back to the front. I also don’t think he is as good on the long run as some of the other drivers will be.
Alex Bowman won the last road course but that was on the streets in Chicago. I don’t think he will be as good today and he was kinda middle of the pack in practice. With so many other good cars and drivers today and I think it will be difficult for him to get a top 8 today.
