NASCAR heads back to a 1.5 mile track again this week for all 3 series at Texas Motor Speedway. The Xfinity Series comes here once a season, but we have a decent amount of 1.5 mile tracks to compare to this weekend.
POTENTIAL DOMINATORS
Justin Allgaier
Cole Custer
Chandler Smith
AJ Allmendinger
Allgaier was very happy with his car in practice, so much so he parked it early. He is good on 1.5 mile tracks and should be a top option for this week. Custer had the best 10 and 15 lap averages in practice and should run at the front all race. Smith has been one of the fastest cars this season and should continue to be a top contender this week. Allmendinger and Kaulig Racing have struggled a little this season but he had some speed in practice so this could be a week AJ starts to turn things around.
PLACE DIFFERENTIAL PLAYS
Ryan Sieg
Parker Retzlaff
Shane Van Gisbergen
Parker Kligerman
With limited place differential plays this week I really like Sieg as a good value play this week. He had speed in practice, and I think he can run top 10 if he has a clean race. Retzlaff starts back in 29th and for a driver that has top 15 potential on most weeks he should be able to move forward. SVG has not been on many tracks like this, and he struggled a little in practice, but being in good equipment he should be able to figure things out as the race goes on and he has a lot of place differential potential starting 33rd. Kligerman is a bit of a flier as he wasn’t great in practice but he was solid and could have top 10 potential in the race.
CHEAP OPTIONS
Kyle Weatherman
Jeremy Clements
Brennan Poole
Ryan Ellis
Leland Honeyman
Not a lot of the cheap drivers stood out in practice this week. Weatherman has been a solid option all year, but his upside is limited starting 19th but he is still usable and has top 15 upside on a good day. Clements could be a good option as he has weeks he runs close to the top 10, I think he does well this week and has top 15 potential. Poole has been one of the faster cars of the lesser equipment cars this year and he should continue that this week with top 20 potential. Ellis and Honeyman are good flier options as they have big place differential upside since they start back in the 30s.
