Xfinity Series Atlanta DFS Picks

NASCAR heads to Atlanta this week for another drafting style track that is likely to be unpredictable like Daytona was last week. The Xfinity Series will be part of a double header on Saturday as the drivers will be battling in the draft with the handling of their cars being more important this week on the 1.5 mile track. Place differential is still going to be king again this week as we can expect several wrecks and making it to the end of the race being half the battle.

This week is a little more difficult to pick than it was last week at Daytona. Usually I would say to fade at least the top 5, but the RCR cars of Austin Hill and Jesse Love have become too good compared to the rest of the field on drafting tracks. They get themselves to the front and nobody can compete so I think they have a good chance of leading a bunch of laps in this race. Now they can definitely wreck or have issues and would end up with negative points, but I am not completely writing them off as I have before. The best way to use either of them if you want to use them in your lineups is to pick one and pair them with a lot of place differential plays.
Now for the actual fades. Since I expect the RCR cars to lead laps and get dominator points, that means the guys starting 2-7 or so have very little upside. They would have to win the race and not have crazy place differential drivers finish up front. I do not think that is likely so the better move is to fade these drivers.
Place Differential Plays
Aric Almirola
Sheldon Creed
Harrison Burton
Sammy Smith
Nick Sanchez
Ryan Sieg
Jeb Burton
Anthony Alfredo
Dean Thompson
There are a good amount of drivers that start in and around the top 20 that are going to be some of the most popular plays for this week. Almirola and Creed are likely going to be two of the highest owned drivers starting right outside the top 15 as they are in some of the best cars and should find themselves towards the front throughout the race. All of these other drivers are good options as well as they have a solid amount of place differential potential to gain from their starting spots and will be racing to get to the front. Again the key for these drivers is going to be missing the wrecks and getting a good finish at the end.
Cheap Options
Matt Dibenedetto
Brennan Poole
Josh Bilicki
Mason Massey
Garrett Smithley
Joey Gase
The cheap options are in play this week but I think they are a little riskier than they were last week at Daytona. Atlanta I feel like does not have as big of wrecks as Daytona and handling is more of a concern for drivers. This means some of the back markers that ride in the back to miss the wrecks may not get as good of a finish as they would at a standard superspeedway track. Two drivers I don't have as much of a concern about this is Dibenedetto and Poole as they both tend to stay with the back and will race to get a good finish even if it means risking a wreck in the pack. They both start in the 30s and should be top cheap options for this week at Atlanta. Other drivers like Bilicki, Massey, Smithley, and Gase I think will be a little more cautious and will tend to ride in the back to miss the wrecks more often than not. This is a fine strategy and they are safe picks, they just might not get as big as points as they would at Daytona unless we get some big cautious. Its just very unpredictable how the cautious will fall and how big the wrecks end up being.
