NASCAR heads out west this week as they go back to where the championship finale was decided at the end of 2024 at Phoenix. Phoenix is a flat style track so there are some other comparable tracks like Richmond on the schedule. This is the first normal oval race of the year so we are starting to head into the main tracks of the NASCAR schedule.
Potential Dominators
Justin Allgaier
Alex Bowman
Sheldon Creed
Phoenix is one of Justin Allgaier's best tracks and he won the championship here last season. I expect him to be one of the best cars this week as he should run towards the front and be one of the top contenders for the race win. He was one of the best in practice and should get to the front and stay there. Bowman got the pole and should get a jump to the lead at the start. It will depend how good he is versus others on the longer run for how much he leads. But he is still a solid play for the race. Creed has had some good runs at Phoenix and is on the Haas team that has ran well here the last few season. I think this is a week he can contend for his first win.
Place Differential Plays
Carson Kvapil
Ryan Sieg
Parker Retzlaff
Christian Eckes
Kvapil had good times in practice but did not get a good qualifying lap in. He starts back in 24th and has a lot of place differential to move forward. He should be a great pick for this race.
Sieg and Retzlaff start outside the top 25 and are solid options to move forward. They both have top 20 potential for the race and could have upside for more. Retzlaff was good in practice times especially. Eckes starts back in 18th and has some room to move forward. I don’t expect great things but he should have top 10 potential.
Cheap Options
Matt Dibenedetto
Kyle Sieg
Jeremey Clements
Joey Gase
Dibenedetto starts back in 31st and has a lot of place differential potential this week. He has been solid on flat tracks in his career and I think he should be able to move forward and have low 20s potential. Same goes for Kyle Sieg who starts behind him in 32nd. They are both solid cheap plays this week. Clements and Gase are flier plays
